BEST Products was a chain of American catalog showroom retail stores, founded in 1957 by Sydney and Frances Lewis. Thomas Geismar, co-founder of the New York design firm Chermayeff and Geismar, designed the BEST logo. The ascending letters of the logo indicate a superlative nature, as in good, better, best. The large metal BEST letters, originally from the facade of the headquarters can be seen hanging in the BEST café at the museum.
