Enamel Gold Vermeil Sterling Silver cone Approx 1 1/2" L including bale The Imperial Tsarevich Easter Egg was presented by Tsar Nicholas II to his wife, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, in 1912. The egg is cleverly constructed to appear as if it is carved from a single piece of lapis lazuli. It actually has six lapis lazuli sections. The joints are concealed under the elaborate gold decorations that include double-headed eagles, a symbol of imperial Russia. The top of the egg is set with a table diamond (a thin, flat diamond) that covers the Cyrillic monogram AF (for Alexandra Feodorovna) and the date 1912. Stunning and magnificent, this pendant is a replica of the Imperial Tsarevich Easter Egg which resides permanently in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts collection. A fantastic addition to any collection, the front and back sides are mirror images of one another. Artel egg pendants are carefully handcrafted by Russian master jewelers in the United States. These jewelry replicate the timeless tradition of Carl Fabergé, whose masterpieces were sought by czars and nobility of his era and are still treasured today.
